Stop Pride 2019
It's a movement!!!!
First off, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! With a new year, comes new responsibilities to self. One responsibility I promised myself to keep is to STOP PRiDE! Yes, small "I."
This is a new movement, a new challenge that I think I am ready to accomplish and I hope to inspire you to join me! There's just one thing... how can you stop something that you may be blind to?!?
OUCH! That hurt even as I typed it. Pride will have you completely blinded by YOU! You are and will stand in your own way without even realizing it. So let's tackle this together: what is Pride (and no, not the film).
"Pride: a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired."
Most also know pride to be our ego. It is the thing that tells you that you are right and justified for feeling the way you feel about something or somebody. It is the thing that gets you hype when someone tries or test you and you feel attacked. Pride will have you feeling like you're the victim and that you can make yourself bigger. "But Ayana, some of this doesn't sound bad."
That is the thing! Sometimes pride will have you KNOWING you are right when you know you are wrong. That is when the justification part comes from! Plus, there is a difference when it comes to pride and confidence.
I believe a person can be confident and humble... although it is hard for me to come up with an example/celebrity at the moment because I don't read minds or know people's heart especially if they are a celebrity because they'll show you what they want you to see.
Pride will manifest on the outside but it mostly comes out from the heart. The Bible says it bad to have pride in your heart (read any of the Proverbs but mostly 18:12). We have to be honest with ourselves that pride is not being honest with ourselves and how we feel. It is not allowing God to be God and have His way when we are prideful.
Looking back at the definition, it says "pride is a deep pleasure from one's OWN achievements" meaning just that! We are taking credit for someone else's work. We are exalting ourselves than the Creator who created all things and who is looking out for us! The weight of playing God is real and is blasphemy! You cannot take on all things because we do not control all things!
I hope this is enough evidence for you to be inspired to improve, inspired to be better! All in all, if you do not like what you have read or felt like this isn't you, please make sure you examine your pride. Pray about it and ask God for humility! Learn about it, study it, and seek it!
STOP PRIDE 2019
and have confidence in God and who He made you to be! Let His Will be done!
