Is Nola Darling Normal??

If you have seen the movie and Netflix series remake of "She's Gotta Have It", you'll understand where I am coming from with this post a lot more. Who is Nola Darling? Nola Darling is a Black woman; a character created by Spike Lee. She is an artist living in Fort Greene in Brooklyn, New York. She struggles to make ends meet but have supportive parents who are willing to help her survive. She balances multiple jobs to stay afloat including selling her artwork. Oh, and another small thing to remember or to describe Nola Darling is a freedom to explore her sexuality... through multiple sex partners or should I say "lovers"? The actress who plays Nola Darling in the Netflix series is DeWanda Wise. She has light brown eyes, golden brown hair, and not that skin color and tones matter, she is not light skin or dark skin but a smooth, rich shade of brown. But this isn't a critic on DeWanda Wise playing Nola Darling but the actual character herself.

Happy Black History Month, Folks!

If you haven't noticed that it's the month of February, then you must not follow any African-Americans. It is already the 6th day of the month of 2018 and we have had three boycotts (including the one Monique is participating in LOL), many iconic African-American birthday celebrations including MLK Day and Trayvon Martin, and the case re-trial for Bill Cosby. So much is going on and we have many things to pay attention to in the news, social media, and in our personal lives. With all that said, I would like to challenge myself and my co-writer to complete a post once a week every week this month about African-American rights, pop culture, historical facts, issues in the black community or celebrity spotlights. This is only the first post to many more to come! Please stay tuned. Let's start by checking out my "In Black" Music Series on Soundcloud: This playlist was created to empower and uplift the African-American soul. I felt like we all have dope pla
