2016 Year End Blog Review

Image
Ohhhh my! I cannot believe 2016 came and went just that quick! A lot, many, various, countless, innumerable, umpteen, populous, bounteous, multifarious... and yes I looked up every word that is a synonym for many because that's how EXTRA 2016 was! But it was well worth the journey, the challenges, the stepping off and on the path, and using a map to gather the right direction. I had my ups and downs with my blog this year. I knew I had more important and essential posts to make but I battled with the hardships of the world and the events that occurred within it. A few times I thought about taking a break from my blogs due to personal endurance, experiences, and the hardships. However, I found myself back at it, blogging as though I never left and it made my love for it worthwhile! Here's the Year End Review 1.) Slavery Embedded

Image
How Slavery Still Affects Us Today Yes, it's 2016 and history seems to repeat itself. That's why we learn about it in school right? Especially in American History, we should all be experts, right? Well, what about the slavery portion? 300 years were dusted over every year for {too} MANY individuals since grade school. We learned about how America was established, the fight for our freedoms/independence, and how we became the most influential, powerful nation in the world! Chapters later we learned about the small fight in civil rights for ALL Americans. With the civil rights movement came the Martin Luther King Jr. era where he promoted peace versus Malcolm X who promoted violence. We understood that they did it with great reason and obstacles... facing discrimination in all areas of society, hate crimes from the KKK, not being about to vote, and being treated as less than human were all reasons for us to understand and justify why they fought for the rights of not only b

Interracial-LY Common

Image
I had a great number of requests to do a post about my thoughts on interracial dating. Now there wasn't any specific details or questions for me to cover so I will just share my thoughts... I'm all here for interracial dating and relationships especially (meaning almost limited to) when it comes to Black Women & White Men couples. You can ask any of my friends who are witnesses to me secretly clapping or screaming when I see a BWWM couple in public. Why may you ask? According to society, upper-middle class, straight, Christian, white men are the ones in power. They "win" in all intersections within Intersectionality. In other words, they have the power and influence in class, sexuality, gender, race, religion, etc. So it is special when a white man is in a relationship with a black woman. A black woman is seen as the most oppressed in our racial binary, meaning black & white, American culture. Being black and female are two strikes in our society. Blac

#RacistsBeRacisting (Racial Identity Theories Included)

Image
I have a lot of patience as well as a passion for race issues. So I am not shocked when I easily find myself arguing with others about race issues within our society. I am constantly screen-shooting and educating others (mostly on Facebook) of racial injustices. Although I want to post these screenshots (one day), I will just summarize and paraphrase the absolute IGNORANCE that citizens of this U.S. of A. say! Note: I will not add any explanations to my observations. There are soooo many things I could say to debunk their ignorant statements and beliefs but some times people choose to be ignorant instead of seeking to understand and have knowledge and I am simply pointing them out. This post is meant to be informative and prepare any possible debaters or social justice activists on my experience with trolls, etc. Second Note: No one made me mad and I ain't sorry lol! Racists, seriously, be racisting (and yes, this is not a real word) and they do it in the same cycle of logic a

Election Season 2016

Image
10 Things Election 2016 Has Taught Me (in no particular order) No political party was responsible or discussed in the making of this post. 1. Alec Baldwin plays the best Donald Trump and Tom Hanks as a Trump Supporter.  People could not get enough of Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon on SNL (Saturday Night Live)! The two actors had viewers tuning in every Saturday night for their best Donald Trump & Hillary Clinton impersonations. My favorite skit was them calling a truce to their feud and hitting Times Square together! Tom Hanks also made an appearance on another episode of SNL as a Trump supporter participating in a game show called "Black Jeopardy". Very funny... and not as offensive as you'd think! 2. People are more prejudice and racist than I thought... and are more prejudice and racist than they even thought or knew about themselves. Wow! Funny how some people would do, say, post, and tweet things that were blatantly racist in its con

Cultural Appropriation vs. Appreciation Political Theory Essay

Image
Appreciation versus Appropriation: The Stolen Culture of Black Women In today’s society, race and women’s issues are on a rise. Different race and women’s issues have come into question and the topics have become widely discussed on the news, social media sites, and in mainstream pop culture media. News anchors, night show hosts, talk show narrators, and many more have publicly stated racist and sexist comments about a particular person and subject highlighted in the media. For example, Bruce Jenner wanting to have a sex change started conversations all over the nation. He, becoming Caitlyn Jenner, faced very sexist comments from male anchors like Fox News Neil Cavuto and others have openly expressed homophobic and transphobic ideologies on national television. One example of racist comments made in the media this year is when BeyoncĂ© used black power-suggested choreography and fashion during the Super bowl halftime show. Many people felt as though her tribute to the African America
